Toward the Light
I painted this from a photograph I took while hiking with my daughter. We were on a family trip in the mountains of Idaho, celebrating the life of the magical being that was my mother-in-law. I have always described her as Mother Earth, who liked to drink champagne! We carry pieces of those who came before us: their courage, their stories, their resilience, their light. They usher us forward, helping shape what comes next. No matter what darkness we find, we carry the strength and resilience of those who taught us how to always keep moving toward the light.
