Locals, visitors, and collectors search for Boulder art every day, by medium, by neighborhood, by name. boulder.art is the guide built to answer them: one clean, searchable place for the county’s artists and galleries, and every path through it ends at an artist. Your profile carries your work, what you make, and the town you work from, in the form search engines read best — and every link on it goes to you: your site, your shop, your inbox.

Is it really free?

Yes — completely. Every sale you make stays yours. There is no fee to be listed, no fee to claim your profile, and no paid tier for artists.

Do I keep everything I sell?

Every dollar. We don’t handle sales, take a commission, or sit between you and a buyer — when someone wants to buy, they go straight to your shop or your inbox.

How did my profile get here?

We build it the way a guidebook has always been built: by finding artists who work here — from their own websites, gallery rosters, studio tours, and public listings — and writing them up so people can find them. So a profile can exist before you have heard of us. It is yours to take over whenever you like, and yours to take down if you would rather not be listed.

Who owns my images?

You do. Copyright in a work stays with the artist who made it. Being in the guide gives us no ownership of it, and claiming a profile transfers nothing. Every artwork page names you as the copyright holder, both in the page and in the data search engines read.

Will you help promote my work?

Accepted Answer

Yes — it’s the one thing we ask permission for when you claim a profile. We may feature your work, your name, and your photograph where we promote boulder.art: on the homepage, in emails we send, on our social media accounts, and in press about the guide. Every use credits you and links back to your profile.

Do you promote me on social media?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once you’ve claimed your profile — we feature your work across our social accounts, always credited and linked back to your page. Prefer to keep it on the site only? Tell us and we’ll stop.

Will my work be used to train AI?

Accepted Answer

We don’t block AI crawlers from reading the guide, because being unreadable to them means being unmentioned when someone asks an assistant who paints in Boulder. Reading a public page is not permission to use the work in it, and we have granted no such permission to anyone. What a crawler does after it reads a page is outside our control, which is why this is worth saying plainly rather than burying. If you would rather not be in the guide on those terms, that is a fair position and one email away.

How do I claim my profile?

Find your page and choose “Is this you?”. We email you a one-time link; clicking it signs you in and finishes the claim. There is no password to set up. Most claims go through instantly. A few need a quick human look, usually within a day or two.

Something on my page is wrong. How do I fix it?

Accepted Answer

Claim it, and the page is yours to edit — your words, your images, your links, in your order. It is the fastest fix, and it is why the claim link sits on every unclaimed profile. If you would rather we made the correction, email hello@boulder.art and tell us what is wrong.

Can my gallery claim my page for me?

Accepted Answer

Claiming is for the artist only — it’s what confirms the page is really you, and it hands over edit access. A gallery that spots a mistake can email us and we’ll fix it.

How do I get my profile — or one image — taken down?

Accepted Answer

Email hello@boulder.art from an address we can recognize as yours, such as the one on your website, and tell us what to remove. We take it down within two business days, usually the same day. Partial removal is the same email and the same turnaround: a single image, your email address, your studio location. You don’t have to explain why, and you can ask us to put it back whenever you like.

I’m not listed. How do I get in?

What counts as a Boulder artist?

You make your work in Boulder County — the studio, not the subject matter. Artists who live elsewhere but show with a Boulder County gallery appear too, under “represented locally”.

What kind of art belongs in the guide?

Accepted Answer

Work made to be looked at, for its own sake: painting, drawing, printmaking, fine art photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, fiber, murals, mixed media, and one-of-a-kind art jewelry and objects. Work made mainly to be used, produced in volume, or shot to a client’s brief usually finds a better home elsewhere. It comes down to intent, not medium.

How do people contact me through the site?

Your website, social links, and shop sit on your profile, one tap away. There is also a contact form that forwards the message straight to your inbox — we don’t sit in the middle of the conversation.

Do you link to my shop?

Yes, in two places: a button on your profile under Contact, and the Shop local page in the main menu, where every link goes to an artist’s own store. We take no part in the sale.

How do you choose who gets featured on the homepage?

By hand, from profiles that are complete enough to look good — a real profile image, work with titles and detail. Claiming makes a profile eligible; it doesn’t buy a slot, and neither does money.

What do you do with my email address?

We use it to keep you signed in and to reach you about your own profile — the sign-in link, and anything that affects your page. Nothing else. We never sell or rent it, and we never add you to a list you didn’t ask for. If we ever send a guide email featuring artists and shows, it will carry a one-click unsubscribe.

boulder.art is a guide to the visual art of Boulder County. boulder.art is a free guide to the artists working in Boulder County, built so the people looking for art like yours actually find it.

Who runs it? Is it the city, or an arts organization?

Neither. It is made by two people in Boulder, Drew and Shayna Larsen, and it is independent — not run by the city, a gallery, or an arts association.

How does it make money?

Accepted Answer

Drew and Shayna cover the cost today. The plan is founding sponsors — galleries and arts businesses who get richer, more polished listings — plus paid placements for them. The line we hold is that money buys richness, never rank. A sponsor can buy a better-looking presence; nobody can buy their way up a list of artists or works. Artists are never charged for anything.

Profiles are kept up to date automatically and corrected by the artists who claim them, so a claimed profile is the most reliable thing on the site. Hours and event details come from the venues and can change without notice — check with them before you drive out.
