Every artist in Boulder County, in one free guide

Why it exists

Boulder has more working artists than almost anyone here realizes, and the information about them is scattered across civic directories, local papers, community groups, and a few hundred individual artist and gallery sites.

That’s fine until you need it. A visitor with two free hours on a Sundance afternoon or a CU football Saturday. A designer sourcing local work for a client. A couple who would rather hang a Boulder painting than a catalog print. A local who has lived here ten years and never known how much was being made a mile away. None of them can see the scene, because nobody had put it in one place.

So we did. The goal is comprehensive and current, and we add artists every week.

For the people who make the scene

Artists and galleries are doing the hard part. You make the work, hang the shows, keep the doors open. This guide exists to send people to you.

If you run a gallery, you get a page with your hours, your current show, and the artists you represent, each linked to their own profile, built to come up when someone searches for galleries near Pearl Street or art in Longmont. If you’re an artist, you get a page built to be found by the people looking for exactly the kind of work you make. Either way, every path off that page leads to your site, your shop, or your door.

And it’s free.

Every link points out

boulder.art is independent — not run by the city, a gallery, or an arts association — and it doesn’t sell art or take a commission. The guide exists to amplify the efforts of the people already doing the work: every link goes out to their own site, their own shop, their own door.

Sponsorships and enhanced listings are how we expect the guide to sustain itself. The core listing stays free, and the guide stays comprehensive either way.

Who makes it

I’m married to watercolor artist Shayna Larsen, which is how I learned how many extraordinary artists work here. Together, we want to help promote this local art community.

Profiles are built from what artists already publish — their own sites, gallery rosters, studio tours, public listings — so your page may exist before you’ve heard of us.
