I’m Ateret Emunah, an artist and maker based in Boulder. I studied art and art therapy at Naropa University, but these days my practice is mostly guided by curiosity: I get inspired, and I try things.
I paint a lot, often exploring darkness and light—visually and as a metaphor for how both exist in our lives. But I also crochet, craft, experiment, and make whatever I feel pulled toward.
I don’t have much interest in the traditional divide between “art” and “craft,” a distinction that has historically undervalued creative work associated with women and domestic life. To me, making is making.
I believe the meaning of life is to create meaning. Art is one of the ways I do that.
