Already Missing St Mary

I was thrilled to find this painting perch overlooking St. Mary Lake in Glacier National Park, where the mountains seemed to unfold endlessly into the distance. I first captured the view as a plein air study, surrounded by the landscape and watching the light and color shift across the valley. I loved the composition so much that I returned to it in the studio, expanding the study into this larger painting for my solo show. The layered blues, luminous lake, and soft pink sky hold that particular feeling Glacier gives me- the sense that even while I'm still there, I'm already missing it.
