Laura Beth Konopinski

My works are layered and constructed to show how relationships, memory, and instinct accumulate and transform over time. I am drawn to investigating the human condition—how we carry histories layered within us, how intimacy and conflict can coexist, and how every choice ripples outward into a larger ecology of consequences. I dig into what is preserved, what erodes, and what remains buried, yet shapes how we live.

When constructing, deconstructing, then refining through coldworking, I move material to reveal edges, interiors, and seams that would otherwise stay unseen. That act of sculpting is like emotional development: change made slowly, through repeated contact, leaving marks that can be refined or completely changed. Glass holds this tension. It can be precise and luminous, yet it also carries the possibility of tension and fracture—an honest parallel to the permeability of being human.
