Danelle Sabathier

I am a contemporary abstract painter based in Boulder, Colorado. I began my studies in Fine Art before pursuing International Affairs and living in Paris for eleven years. After returning to the United States, I stepped away from painting for nearly two decades before returning to my studio with renewed focus. My work grows from the belief that significant experiences permanently change us. Through layered, medium- and large-scale acrylic paintings, I explore the buildup of pressure, moments of rupture, and what remains afterward. I layer, bury, uncover, and remove paint so that each painting retains the history of its own making. Working with saturated reds and deep blues, I create paintings that remain open to individual experience while reflecting on endurance, memory, and irreversible change. Color functions as both emotion and structure. The work is not about resolution. It is about endurance inside instability. My paintings are for people who have been marked by life and continue moving forward.
